Does Pine Grove Resort Recycle?
Pine Grove Resort has proudly recycled for many years, even before it was "cool" we drove 1.5 hrs each way to do our weekly recycling at the depot. It is now much easier for us to recycle than in the past. Our recycling station is located behind #3 cottage. We have separate bins for aluminum cans (please crush), plastic, glass and Canadian LCBO empties which the proceeds go to various local charities. Please rinse the containers before placing in the appropriate bin. All garbage sealed in bags, must be placed inside our green dumpster located in the parking lot area, this prevents bears and raccoons from becoming a nuisance. Recycling is not only good for the environment, but essential in the north for prolonging the life of our landfill.
*We are attempting to reduce the amount of plastic at Pine Grove and ask that if possible you take your empty plastic water bottles home with you to be recycled, our tiny recycling area is often overwhelmed with empty water bottles.
Can we drink the water?
Yes. The water at Pine Grove has been treated through a filtering and UV process approved by the government and it is tested every month. The water from the taps in the campground are also treated and drinkable. The water will not taste like city water, as it is not chlorinated. If you prefer bottled water please see above message on recycling.
Is smoking permitted?
Our cottages are all non-smoking. You may smoke outside on the deck of your cabin, provided that cigarette buts are disposed of properly and not thrown on the ground. We pride ourselves on having a tidy property without litter and would like to keep it that way.
Due to new laws in Ontario, smoking pot is legal...it is still smoke, and we would like to keep our cottages and beach area smoke free. NO Smoking, NO Vaping. We appreciate your co-operation.
How remote is Pine Grove Resort?
Pine Grove is located adjacent to the Parry Sound Wildlands, a protected area of wilderness located past the northern most tip of Algonquin Park and the southernmost reaches of the Boreal Forest to the north. This pristine wilderness area is accessed by road or boat on over 40 miles of the Wolf-Pickerel River system, and is located in the middle of Hwy 522 between Hwy 11 & 69. Pine Grove Resort is located at the end of Pine Grove road on over 250 acres and has access to all amenities in the town of Port Loring a 15 minute drive away; yet secluded enough to feel like you are truly in the Great Canadian Wilderness.
What are the nature trails like at Pine Grove?
These trails offer an easy, peaceful walk through a mixed forest which is dominated by hemlock, pine, maple and other upland hardwood species. A few interpretive signs are found along the trail, which identify the various species of tree located in the area. Situated close to the Pickerel River, the property is part of a historically significant area, replete with native culture, as well as evidence of early European settlements and logging practices which can still be seen today.
